Christmas in Minneapolis

Spending the holidays in the cities can be overwhelming, especially for those of us who are already breaking the bank for Christmas decorations and presents. Fortunately, there are many free activities to take advantage of in Minneapolis & St. Paul around the holidays.

1. The Holidazzle Parade: November 25 - December 18
Enjoy this parade that takes place on Nicollet Mall in downtown Minneapolis, starting at 6:30 p.m. every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

2. Winterskate: November 25 - February 5
Skate outside in downtown Saint Paul at Winterskate rink, which is surrounded not only by the beautiful city lights, but twinkling holiday lights as well.

3. South Saint Paul Holidaze Festival: December 8
Santa, holiday treats, a hat & mitten drive, Christmas carols, and the lighting of the city's Christmas tree - what more could you ask for?

4. Holiday Lights Drive-by: all winter long
No need to  be in the cold to enjoy the holidays - Minnesotans are particularly great at decorating their homes for Christmas. Pop in your favorite holiday mix and drive around the suburbs with your friends and families.

5. Tour of the Governor's house: December 1, 8, and 15
Take a free tour of the Governor's house and see his holiday decorations and Christmas tree.

6. Inver Grove Heights Holiday on Main Street: December 17
This fun, family event is fully equipped with a candy cane hunt, music, food, kid's games, and an evening holiday light viewing trolley ride. This one is perfect for the little ones.
